Meet Your Teacher
Steven Skaer – Math Educator, AP Calculus Specialist & Lifelong Learner
With 25 years of teaching high school math, ranging from basic math to AP Calculus, I’ve decided to focus on working with students in small groups or one-on-one settings. My mission is to help students conquer any fears or misconceptions they have about math, offering personalized guidance to ensure they gain confidence and mastery in the subject. Holding a Master’s in Math Education from Montana State University, I’ve been fortunate to have my AP Calculus AB students consistently achieve scores of 4 or above.
I’m deeply passionate about continuous learning—especially in mathematics—and I strive to share that enthusiasm with my students. Working with individuals or small groups allows me to tailor my approach, helping students not only understand the material but also develop a genuine love for math and problem-solving.
When I’m not teaching, I’m at home with my wonderful wife, Sydne, and our two kids, Benjamin and Lillian. In my free time, I’m often immersed in 80's and 90's movies, music, and TV shows, or enjoying sports and the great outdoors.
Mathematics is not just about numbers—it’s about exploring new ways to think, solve problems, and discover solutions. My goal is to guide each student toward those "aha!" moments and empower them to achieve success, whether individually or within a small group setting.
